When deciduous trees come out of dormancy and bud into leaf, one sometimes discovers (perhaps after moving into a new home over the winter) that a tree is diseased or dying. Most of the time this requires the great expense of removing the dead specimen. However, there are options to incorporate dead branches (see my post on “dead” wood) or the entire tree, into your home landscape. In Sonoma, California I visited the festival of contemporary gardens; Corner Stone, and love the Blue Tree by Claude Cormier. Perhaps not suiting to everyone’s neighborhood style but inspirational even so.
